The course served up one of those days where the greens looked invitingly soft underfoot, only to reveal lightning pace once the ball started rolling. Add in some delightfully diabolical pin placements that appeared to have been chosen by someone with a dark sense of humour, and scoring became a true test of nerve. Players who managed to stay patient, avoid three-putts and four-putts and negotiate the trickiest corners of the greens were richly rewarded most of the time.
Terry Big Cat Foster (10) claimed Division 1 honors with an excellent nett 68, holding off David Von Itzstein (9), who finished runner-up on 71. The Gross prize went to Charles Paton (1), whose quality ball striking produced the best gross score in the division with 74.
David Wallis (18) produced the standout score of the day in Division 2, taking victory with a superb nett 66. Joseph Lehkyj (16) secured second place with 70. The Gross winner was Mark James (14), who recorded 86 to collect the division gross prize.
Tony Waller (23) continued his strong form to win Division 3 with a nett 67. Rick Downes (25) followed closely behind on 69 to secure the runner-up voucher. Dave Callard (24) claimed the Gross prize with a score of 95.

It was fantastic to see everyone back out on the course after the recent rain, with conditions improving enough to allow golf carts back on course for the day. The extra access certainly made for an enjoyable afternoon and it was great to see a strong field take advantage of the improved conditions. After two long weeks of rain, the skies finally cleared, the course dried out, and Club Banora golfers could get back to what they love most—hitting the fairways! There was a real sense of excitement in the air as players dusted off their clubs, stretched out those rusty swings, and enjoyed a beautiful day of golf. The sun, the laughter, shanks, lost balls and the friendly competition all came together perfectly, making this Saturday one to remember.
Division 1:
James Walle emerged victorious with a score of 42 points, showing remarkable consistency across the course. Wade Elphick took the runner-up spot with 39 points, demonstrating a strong challenge throughout the round. Both players’ handicaps played a key role in keeping the competition tight and exciting.
Division 2:
Michael Byrne claimed top honors with 38 points, edging out David Haime who finished with 37 points. Both players showcased skill and strategy, making this division a thrilling contest to watch.
We will try to play our monthly medal this Saturday the 16th which will also be our 2026 Annual Club Banora match play qualifier. Make sure to put a M on your card if you want to be in the running.
This week, once again doesn’t look the best weather wise. lets all hope the rain passes quickly.
If anyone wants to give me chipping lessons, please let me know. for the life of me I cant stop shanking chips.

Division 1 saw Trevor Neil (16) take top honours with a solid 40 points, narrowly edging out Paul Pochodyla (10) who matched the score but settled for runner-up. Unlucky Paul, another solid round of golf.
In Division 2, Perc Dempsey (30) claimed victory with 38 points, while John Tannahill (30) followed up with 36 points to secure second place.
Shane Vanderlight winning the Pro Pin on a Saturday is already unusual—but doing it on a day when the rough is “too long” for him to normally show up? That’s next level.
Rumour has it the only reason he played was because someone told him the Pro Pin was on a hole where you don’t have to go near the rough. One swing, straight at the flag, job done… and straight back to avoiding the long grass for another few months.
