A Reminder About Pace of Play

We’re seeing an increasing number of groups, particularly in the morning field, falling well behind the group ahead. Please remember that it is the responsibility of the lowest marker in each group to help ensure the group maintains the correct pace of play. Your group should be right behind the group in front at all times. Moving forward a new Local rule will be introduced disqualifying the group, not just the lowest marker as per Men’s Golf Match Committee 11/7/26

When groups lose position early in the day, it creates a ripple effect that sees the afternoon field teeing off 30–50 minutes late, with the final groups not finishing until around 5:00 pm.

From now on, slow groups will receive a written warning for a first infringement. A second infringement will result in disqualification from the competition.

Please be considerate of your fellow members by keeping up with the group ahead, being ready to play, and embracing Ready Golf wherever possible.

🎬 The Curious Case of the Mystery Pitching Wedge

There are moments in club history that deserve to be remembered.

This…may not be one of them.

Picture the scene.

A golfer arrives on the first tee, blissfully unaware that tucked neatly among the irons in the bag is a 15th club.

Not just any club.

A pitching wedge.

Not their pitching wedge.

Someone else’s.

Cue the dramatic music…

DUN… DUN… DUNNNNNN!

After a few holes, the dreaded words were spoken.

“Hang on… I’ve got too many clubs.”

Panic.

Confusion.

An emergency club count.

A thorough investigation worthy of a prime-time crime drama.

The mystery deepened when it became apparent that a certain member—whose identity shall remain protected by the Witness Protection Program (and because they still want friends)—had apparently left their pitching wedge in the innocent victim’s bag after the previous outing.

Or…did they?

Was it an innocent mistake?

A momentary lapse in concentration?

Or was this a carefully orchestrated attempt at psychological warfare designed to inflict a two-stroke penalty on an unsuspecting competitor?

The committee has no comment.

CSI Golf Club investigators were unable to recover fingerprints due to excessive sunscreen and pie grease.

Witnesses reported seeing “a bloke looking confused near the carts and clean shaven and wearing 2 pairs of socks,” but descriptions varied wildly.

The unnamed suspect has denied everything.

The unnamed victim maintains their innocence.

The pitching wedge remains silent.

The truth?

We may never know…

🎵 Dramatic music fades… until next Saturday. 🎵

🏌️ Saturday Stableford Wrap-Up

This Saturday’s competition wasn’t just about great scores and friendly rivalry—it was also another fantastic free golf day for all members, proudly supported by Men’s Golf. Following on from the successful free day held on Wednesday 17 June, it was great to see so many members taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a game, catch up with friends and be part of the club atmosphere.

The positive feedback from both days has been tremendous, and we’re pleased to announce that another free members’ day is planned for July. This time we’re looking to make it even bigger and better with a Shotgun Start Ambrose Medley Event, giving everyone a chance to team up, have some fun and enjoy a relaxed day on the course. We will be taking advantage of the generous support Twin Towns provides us with each year, which is the grant they give each member at the club each year. A big thank you to Twin Towns and also all the members who support the raffles and who also play in all our competitions. This Club is amazing with a tight knit member base. Thank you all.

And it doesn’t stop there—pizzas and drinks will be on us! 🍕🍻

Final details and dates are still being locked in, so keep an eye on the club blog and noticeboards as we get closer to the event. If the recent free days are anything to go by, this will be one you won’t want to miss.

A big thank you to everyone who has supported these member initiatives, and we look forward to seeing another great turnout in July!

⚔️ Match Play Corner – The Clash of the Century

Forget the major championships, the real sporting drama unfolded in the Match Play arena where two epic battles went right down to the wire.

In the first blockbuster, Jarrod Brown and Jim Storey traded blows all day in what spectators are already calling “The Clash of the Century.” Neither player could shake the other, with the match remaining on a knife edge until the final hole. When the dust settled, Jarrod stood tall, pinching the last hole to claim a thrilling 1-up victory and book his place in the next stage.

Not to be outdone, Ryan Modini and Jimmy Woods produced an equally dramatic showdown. With momentum swinging harder than a rusty gate in a cyclone, the match also came down to the 18th. Ryan held his nerve when it mattered most, winning the last hole and sealing a hard-fought 1-up triumph.

There were only two tickets available to the next round and only two players could claim them. Congratulations to Jarrod Brown and Ryan Modini for proudly carrying the A Grade flag into the next stage. The pressure now shifts to the remaining challengers who will be hoping these two leave some glory for everyone else! Things are about to get interesting, with the semifinals soon approaching.

Just another reminder: The Men’s Pennant teams are meeting this Tuesday at Club Banora at 5:30pm – Please advise your team captain if you are unable to attend. We are also seeking at least 2 more reserves to fill in for any late minute player cancellations. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and play at different courses for free.
